Alternatives To Re-Homing Your Dog

If your desire to re-home your dog is because of behavioral or training issues, please contact a qualified training professional. Our training partner, All Things Pups Dog Training, has extensive experience solving all types of behavioral issues. Please attempt to have a professional help you train your dog before re-homing them.

If the issue is housing, please remember your dog is a member of your family. Consider offering your landlord a refundable pet deposit.  Sometimes that is enough to alleviate a landlord’s concerns. Or, if you are open to moving, there are realtors dedicated to helping you find a place that allows you to rent with your dog.  Large property management companies often have blanket policies that may be more difficult to alter. Contact landlords of smaller properties directly, and be sure to show off your well-behaved dog.

Surrendering/Re-Homing Your Dog

There are unfortunately times when an owner can no longer care for their dog. This form contains the necessary information we need to determine if we can assist with the re-homing of a dog. Although we would love to help all dogs, we need to assess our current foster home situation along with other factors before making a decision. Filling out our dog surrender/return application does not guarantee that we will be able to re-home your dog.

Conditions of Surrender/Return

All dogs 6 months of age and older must be up to date on their rabies vaccine to be considered. All veterinary records must be sent to us via email in order for the surrender to be reviewed by our team.

We require a $20 non-refundable donation before we will process your application. This donation is tax deductible.

The owner surrender fee is $200 for non-All Things Pups Rescue dogs. This will be used towards food, supplies and spaying/neutering your dog.

We cannot guarantee acceptance of your animal if it is not formerly from All Things Pups Rescue.

Please allow up to one week for a response from our team.

Next Steps

  1. Fill out the Pet Surrender/Return Application.

  2. After filling out the application, you will be redirected to PayPal to make the $20 non-refundable donation. This must be received before your application is processed.

  3. Vet records must be sent to us at info@allthingspupsrescue.org, unless if the animal is a stray and you do not have vet records.

For questions regarding the application or the surrender process, email info@allthingspupsrescue.org.

If You HAVE To Re-Home Your Dog And We Are Unable To Help

Here are some tips and ideas for re-homing your pet:

  • Reach Out To Friends & Family First - Email everyone you know and ask them to share with everyone they know. Spread the word that your pet needs a new home.

  • Make Flyers - Make an adoption flyer and post at local vet hospitals, grooming shops, pet supply stores, etc.

  • Visibility - get a bright colored "adopt me" bandana for your dog and visit parks, shopping centers, etc.

  • Post On Social Media - use sites like Facebook to share with the world that your pet needs a new home.

Craigslist - post an adoption ad in the pets section.

Adopt-A-Pet Rehome Service - post your pet for adoption on Adopt-a-Pet.com for millions of potential adopters to view. Using Rehome is free for the pet owner and offers a safe, reliable way to find a new home for a dog or cat.

*Please be diligent in screening potential adopters and never post your dog as "free to good home."

Make sure that all of your postings and flyers include great photos, a video if possible, and all of the details about your dog including age, breed, weight, gender, health status, behavior with other dogs, behavior with children, the type of home that would be most suitable.
